ABSTRACT -
Advil is an anti-inflammatory drug that controls the hormones in the body that cause inflammation. Advil can be used to treat minor body and muscle aches as well as headaches and toothaches. It is a non-steroidal drug that is also used to treat inflammations during minor body aches, back pains, arthritis and even menstrual cramps. It can be administered to children and adults above the age of 6, deeming it a useful drug. Advil falls under the category of drugs classified as ‘Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs’ (NSAID).
DOSAGE –
-
- Advil is meant to be taken strictly according to a doctor’s prescription.
- Adult dosages available – Tablets - 200mg, 400mg, 300mg, 600mg, 800mg.
- Oral solutions are generally found to be 100mg/5mL.
- General dosage is 200-400mg per dose, with a gap of 4-6 hours.
- Maximum dosage for the average adult is 800mg/dose and 3200mg/day. Exceeding this may cause overdosing.
- Dosage to be followed by food or milk.
SIDE EFFECTS –

- Zidovudine Advil has moderate reactions with 324 different drugs.
PRECAUTIONS –
- Allergic reactions to Advil must be noted before any kind of prescription. Allergic reactions to Advil may include hives, severe breathing problems and swelling of the facial areas.
- The medical history of the patient must be delivered in detail to the doctor before prescriptions. Advil must not be recommended to patients who have recently completed a heart bypass surgery, suffer from heart diseases, stomach ulcers, asthma, liver or kidney diseases, or connective tissue diseases. Consequences can be aggravating or medically fatal.
- Consult a doctor before using Advil during pregnancy or lactation. Advil can adversely affect the health and growth of a fetus during the last three months of the pregnancy period.
- Take Advil only as recommended. Overdose can cause intestinal hemorrhaging which can be fatal.
- Avoid consuming alcohol during Ibuprofen course.
- Avoid consuming aspirin during course – consult a doctor before using any other medication that is not known to the case or has not been informed to the doctor.
WARNINGS –
- Ibuprofen can cause internal intestinal bleeding which can be fatal at times. Patients are always advised to consume medication as per doctor’s instructions.
- Do not give Advil to children under the age of 2 unless prescribed by a medical authority.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately. Overdosing symptoms may include nausea, coughing up blood, severe abdominal cramps and severe difficulty in breathing.
