ENDOCET

Generic Name : ACETAMINOPHEN AND OXYCODONE

ABSTRACT -

Endocet is classified as a ‘narcotic-analgesic combination’. It is composed of oxycodone, an opioid medication that relieves pain in various parts of the body, and acetaminophen – which enforces the effects of the former. This drug is generally used to treat mild pain in certain parts of the body.

DOSAGE –

    • Endocet is to be taken as directed by the doctors. Consume this drug only as prescribed to avoid overdose or other harmful effects.
    • Dispose of leftover tablets.
    • General Adult Dosage available:
Tablet – 2.5mg/325mg (twice a day as needed for pain)

PRECAUTIONS –

  • Provide the doctor with a detailed and accurate medical history prior to drug prescription. Notify especially in case of illnesses such as asthmatic conditions, liver/kidney disease, disorders in the pancreas, gallbladder, thyroid or adrenal gland, seizures, or alcoholism.
  • Inform the doctor of all the drugs being consumed, especially sedatives such as Valium.
  • Do not consume this drug in case of an allergy to Endocet, or in case of severe asthma stomach blockage or the use of sedatives, alcohol or other narcotic drugs.
  • Do not nurse while on drug course as Endocet can transfer through breast milk and cause harm to a newborn.
  • Using this drug during pregnancy can cause harmful effects on the growth of the child; such as drug dependency.
  • Avoid alcohol or any drug that can slow down breathing while on drug course.
  • Notify a surgeon of drug intake in case of an upcoming surgery.

WARNINGS –

  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Strictly avoid powdering this drug to inject it intravenously. This can cause extremely harmful effects.
  • The side effects of this drug are more prominently noticed with older patients, or those that have breathing problems or are malnourished.
  • Several drugs may interact with Endocet. Provide a detailed drug list to the doctor before using Endocet.
  • Endocet can rapidly slow down the patient’s breathing rate.
  • This drug can be habit-forming. Misuse of this drug may lead to overdose, death or addiction. Do not ever share this medication with another person, or consume more of this drug than is needed.
  • In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately. Overdose of this drug can cause severe liver conditions or even death.
