Generic Name: ABARELIX
ABSTRACT -
Abarelix is a synthetic decapeptide gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) receptor antagonist. It suppresses luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone release, reducing testosterone production in advanced prostate cancer.
DOSAGE –
Historical adult regimen for Plenaxis: 100 mg intramuscular injection on day 1, day 15, day 29, then every 4 weeks, with specialist monitoring. Availability and approved use vary by country.
SIDE EFFECTS –
- Hot flashes
- Fatigue
- Injection-site pain or reaction
- Gynecomastia or breast tenderness
- Dizziness
- Nausea
- Edema
ALLRGIC REACTIONS–

- Immediate systemic allergic reaction
- Hypotension or syncope
- Wheezing or difficulty breathing
- Urticaria or angioedema
DRUG INTERACTIONS -

PRECAUTIONS –

WARNINGS –
- Severe immediate-onset systemic allergic reactions have been reported
