AXOMADOL
Generic Name: AXOMADOL
ABSTRACT -
Axomadol is a synthetic, centrally acting small-molecule analgesic related to tramadol, with opioid agonist properties and monoamine reuptake inhibition activity investigated for chronic pain. Its molecular formula is C₁₆H₂₅NO₃, with molecular weight approximately 279.38 g/mol. The chemical representation above shows the 2D skeletal structure.
This document is for structured API information only. It is not a prescribing guide. Clinical use, if any, must follow the approved local label, trial protocol, and specialist medical supervision.
DOSAGE-
- Dosage should be determined only by a qualified healthcare professional or clinical-trial protocol.
- Use only according to an approved local label or supervised research protocol for the specific indication.
- Dose, titration, and discontinuation may depend on pain severity, opioid exposure, renal/hepatic status, and adverse effects.
- Do not combine with opioids, sedatives, or serotonergic medicines without medical supervision.
SIDE EFFECTS-
Possible side effects and safety concerns include:
- Nausea, vomiting, constipation, dizziness, somnolence, headache, or dry mouth
- Sweating, fatigue, pruritus, abdominal discomfort, or orthostatic symptoms
- Respiratory depression, sedation, dependence, misuse, or withdrawal are possible opioid-class concerns
- Serotonin syndrome or seizures are theoretical concerns with monoamine reuptake inhibition
- Pain-condition symptoms and concomitant analgesics may overlap with drug effects
ALLERGIC REACTIONS -
Hypersensitivity to Axomadol or related compounds/products may occur. Symptoms may include:
- Immediate urticaria, itching, flushing, or generalized rash
- Facial, lip, tongue, or throat swelling
- Wheezing, chest tightness, or breathing difficulty
- Dizziness, fainting, severe hypotension, or collapse
- Anaphylaxis, although uncommon, requires emergency medical treatment
Important: Patients who develop an allergic reaction to Axomadol should seek immediate medical attention and inform all future healthcare providers of the allergy.
DRUG INTERACTIONS-
Axomadol may interact with certain medicines, biologics, vaccines, protocols, or clinical conditions. Caution is needed with:
- Alcohol, benzodiazepines, sedatives, other opioids, or respiratory depressants may increase sedation and respiratory risk.
- MAO inhibitors, SSRIs, SNRIs, tricyclic antidepressants, triptans, or linezolid may increase serotonergic toxicity risk.
- CYP-modifying medicines may alter exposure depending on formulation and metabolism.
- Patients should report all pain medicines, psychiatric medicines, supplements, and herbal products.
Patients should inform healthcare providers about all prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, herbal products, vaccines, and supplements they are using.
PREAUTIONS–
- Assess substance-use history, respiratory disease, seizure risk, depression, and concomitant CNS depressants before use.
- Monitor pain relief, sedation, respiratory status, bowel function, blood pressure, and withdrawal symptoms.
- Use caution in older adults and patients with renal, hepatic, pulmonary, or neurologic impairment.
- Pregnancy and lactation require individualized medical review.
WARNINGS –
- Opioid-like medicines can cause life-threatening respiratory depression, misuse, dependence, and withdrawal.
- Serotonin syndrome and seizures can occur with serotonergic or seizure-threshold-lowering medicines.
- Do not drive or operate machinery until individual effects are known.
- Keep out of reach of children.
