ALNESPIRONE
Generic Name: ALNESPIRONE
ABSTRACT -
Alnespirone is an investigational azapirone-class medicine described as a selective serotonin 5-HT1A receptor agonist. It was studied for psychiatric indications such as anxiety or depression, but it is not an approved routine therapy and development has not led to standard clinical use. Use should remain limited to research or specialist supervision.
DOSAGE -
- Alnespirone does not have an approved routine dosage regimen.
- Clinical-study dosing, titration, duration, and psychiatric monitoring must follow the study protocol.
- It should not be used for self-medication, anxiety, depression, sleep, or recreational purposes.

PREAUTIONS–

- Assess depression severity, suicidality, bipolar disorder history, liver function, kidney function, and all serotonergic medicines before use.
- Monitor mood, anxiety, sleep, agitation, dizziness, blood pressure, and serotonin-syndrome symptoms.
- Use caution in hepatic impairment, renal impairment, elderly patients, seizure disorders, bipolar disorder, or history of substance misuse.
- Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and pediatric safety have not been established.
WARNINGS –
- Alnespirone is investigational; safety, efficacy, optimal dose, and routine clinical role have not been fully established.
- Serotonin syndrome may occur with serotonergic combinations and can be life-threatening.
- Worsening depression, suicidal thoughts, severe agitation, confusion, fever, muscle rigidity, or severe dizziness requires urgent evaluation.
- Do not combine with MAO inhibitors or other serotonergic drugs unless directed by a specialist protocol.
- Keep out of reach of children.
