ANILERIDINE

Generic Name: ANILERIDINE

ABSTRACT -

Anileridine is a synthetic piperidine opioid analgesic related to pethidine/meperidine and used historically for moderate to severe pain. It produces analgesia primarily through opioid receptor agonism.

DOSAGE - 

  • Dosage should be determined only by a qualified healthcare professional.
  • Dosing depends on formulation, route, pain severity, opioid tolerance, age, and organ function.
  • Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest appropriate duration.
  • Monitor respiratory rate, sedation, blood pressure, and misuse risk.

SIDE EFFECTS–

  • Possible side effects include:
  • Respiratory depression
  • Sedation
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Constipation
  • Miosis
  • Hypotension
  • Confusion
  • Dependence and withdrawal

ALLRGIC REACTIONS–

  • Possible allergic reaction symptoms include:
  • Rash
  • Urticaria
  • Angioedema
  • Bronchospasm
  • Anaphylaxis-like reaction
  • Important: Patients who develop an allergic reaction to Anileridine should seek immediate medical attention and inform all future healthcare providers of the allergy.

DRUG INTERACTIONS–

  • Alcohol, benzodiazepines, sedatives, and other opioids can cause fatal respiratory depression.
  • MAO inhibitors and serotonergic medicines may increase toxicity risk.
  • Anticholinergics can worsen constipation and urinary retention.
  • Other CNS depressants increase impairment.
  • Patients should inform healthcare providers about all prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, herbal products, vaccines, and supplements they are using.

PREAUTIONS–

  • Assess opioid tolerance, respiratory disease, head injury, liver or kidney impairment, and substance-use risk.
  • Avoid driving or hazardous work while impaired.
  • Use caution in older adults and debilitated patients.
  • Taper gradually after prolonged use.

WARNINGS –

  • Opioid overdose can be fatal and may require naloxone.
  • Store securely to prevent misuse or accidental ingestion.
  • Do not combine with alcohol or sedatives unless specifically directed.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
