EDOXABAN
Generic Name: EDOXABAN
ABSTRACT -
Edoxaban is an oral direct factor Xa inhibitor anticoagulant used to reduce thromboembolic risk in specific indications such as atrial fibrillation and venous thromboembolism treatment.
DOSAGE -
Use indication-specific labeled dosing and renal-function criteria. Dose adjustments may be required for renal impairment, body weight, and P-gp interacting drugs.
SIDE EEFECTS -
- Bleeding
- Anemia
- Rash
- Abnormal liver tests
- Dizziness or gastrointestinal symptoms
ALLERGIC REACTIONS -
These symptoms may indicate an allergic reaction and require medical attention.
- Rash, urticaria, angioedema, bronchospasm, or anaphylaxis
DRUG INTERACTIONS-
- Anticoagulants, antiplatelets, thrombolytics, SSRIs/SNRIs, and NSAIDs increase bleeding risk
- P-gp inhibitors or inducers may alter exposure
- Avoid abrupt changes without anticoagulation plan
PREAUTONS–
- Check renal function, bleeding history, body weight, and interacting drugs
- Plan peri-procedural interruption carefully
- Pregnancy and neuraxial anesthesia require special precautions
WARNINGS –
- Major or fatal bleeding can occur
- Premature discontinuation increases thrombotic risk
- Spinal/epidural hematoma risk exists with neuraxial procedures
