DURLOBACTAM
Generic Name: DURLOBACTAM
ABSTRACT -
Durlobactam is a diazabicyclooctane beta-lactamase inhibitor used in combination with sulbactam for susceptible Acinetobacter baumannii-calcoaceticus complex hospital-acquired and ventilator-associated bacterial pneumonia.
DOSAGE -
Given intravenously as part of sulbactam/durlobactam; standard adult dosing is renal-function dependent and should follow the product label.
SIDE EEFECTS -
- Diarrhea
- Abnormal liver tests
- Anemia
- Hypokalemia
- Infusion-site reactions
ALLERGIC REACTIONS -
(These symptoms may indicate an allergic reaction and require medical attention.)
- Hypersensitivity reaction
- Rash or urticaria
- Bronchospasm or dyspnea
- Anaphylaxis (rare)
DRUG INTERACTIONS-
- Concomitant nephrotoxic antibiotics require monitoring
- Probenecid and renal tubular transport interactions may be relevant for beta-lactams
- Use with other antibacterials may alter microbiome and C. difficile risk
PREAUTONS–
- Adjust regimen by renal function
- Monitor for C. difficile-associated diarrhea
- Use only for susceptible bacterial infections to reduce resistance
WARNINGS –
- Serious hypersensitivity reactions can occur
- Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea has been reported with antibacterial agents
