Generic Name: CILGAVIMAB
ABSTRACT -
Cilgavimab (AZD1061) is a monoclonal antibody directed against the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2, used in combination with tixagevimab as Evusheld for pre-exposure prophylaxis of COVID-19 in immunocompromised individuals unable to mount adequate vaccine responses.
DOSAGE -
150 mg IM injection (in combination with tixagevimab 150 mg IM) as a single dose for pre-exposure prophylaxis; repeat dosing per updated guidelines.
SIDE EEFECTS -
- Injection site reactions (pain, erythema)
- Headache
- Fatigue
- Myalgia
- Nausea
ALLERGIC REACTIONS -
(These symptoms may indicate an allergic reaction and require medical attention.)
- Hypersensitivity reactions
- Anaphylaxis (rare)
- Urticaria or angioedema
- Facial flushing
DRUG INTERACTIONS-
- May reduce efficacy against SARS-CoV-2 variants with spike mutations
- Not a substitute for COVID-19 vaccination
- No known significant PK drug interactions
PREAUTONS–
- Effectiveness varies against emerging viral variants
- Not for treatment of active COVID-19 infection
- Administer IM only — not IV or SC
- Monitor immunocompromised patients for breakthrough infection
WARNINGS –
- Hypersensitivity reactions possible — have resuscitation resources available
- Activity may be reduced against new variants
- Use only in authorized immunocompromised populations
