ABSTRACT -
Ecomustine is an alkylating anticancer API. It is expected to damage DNA and inhibit tumor-cell replication; definitive use depends on protocol and formulation.
DOSAGE -
Cytotoxic dosing is protocol-specific and adjusted for marrow reserve, organ function, and prior therapy.
SIDE EEFECTS -
- Myelosuppression including neutropenia and thrombocytopenia
- Nausea and vomiting
- Mucositis or stomatitis
- Fatigue
- Liver or kidney laboratory abnormalities
ALLERGIC REACTIONS -
These symptoms may indicate an allergic reaction and require medical attention.
- Rash, urticaria, bronchospasm, hypotension, or anaphylaxis
DRUG INTERACTIONS-
- Other myelosuppressive therapies increase marrow toxicity
- Live vaccines should be avoided during significant immunosuppression
- Nephrotoxic or hepatotoxic drugs may require closer monitoring
PREAUTONS–
- Monitor CBC, renal function, liver function, infection signs, and bleeding
- Use cytotoxic handling precautions
- Effective contraception is required
WARNINGS –
- Severe and delayed bone-marrow suppression can be life-threatening
- Embryo-fetal toxicity and secondary malignancy risk may occur with alkylators
