AMILOMOTIDE
Generic Name: AMILOMOTIDE
ABSTRACT -
Amilomotide, also known as CAD106, is an investigational active immunotherapy vaccine approach for Alzheimer disease. It uses multiple copies of an amyloid-beta N-terminal peptide epitope coupled to a Qbeta virus-like particle to induce anti-amyloid-beta antibody responses while aiming to reduce amyloid-specific inflammatory T-cell activation. It is not licensed for routine clinical use.
DOSAGE -
Dosage should be determined only by a qualified healthcare professional.
No approved dosage regimen exists for clinical practice.
Clinical trial administration was protocol-defined, generally as repeated intramuscular immunizations with controlled monitoring.
Use only in a regulated clinical trial or formally approved research setting.
SIDE EFFECTS–
Possible side effects may include:
- Injection-site pain, redness, swelling, or induration
- Fever, fatigue, malaise, or flu-like symptoms
- Headache
- Immune-mediated reactions or excessive inflammatory response
- Unknown long-term efficacy and safety profile
ALLRGIC REACTIONS–
Hypersensitivity to vaccine components, peptide carrier systems, or excipients may occur. Symptoms may include:
- Rash or urticaria
- Angioedema
- Wheezing or dyspnea
- Fever with systemic reaction
- Anaphylaxis
Important: Patients who develop an allergic reaction to Amilomotide should seek immediate medical attention and inform all future healthcare providers of the allergy.
DRUG INTERACTIONS–
Amilomotide may interact with certain medicines or substances. Caution is needed with:
- Immunosuppressive therapy may reduce vaccine response.
- Other vaccines or immunotherapies may complicate safety attribution.
- Anticoagulants may increase injection-site bruising risk.
- Patients should inform investigators about all medicines, biologics, vaccines, and supplements.
Patients should inform healthcare providers about all prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, herbal products, and supplements they are using.
PREAUTIONS–
- Screen for immune, neurologic, and inflammatory risk factors according to protocol.
- Monitor for neurologic worsening and inflammatory adverse events.
- Pregnancy and lactation safety are not established.
- Not recommended outside a controlled research environment.
WARNINGS –
- Amilomotide is investigational and not approved for Alzheimer disease treatment.
- Do not use as a substitute for approved dementia care.
- Any severe allergic, neurologic, or inflammatory symptoms require urgent medical evaluation.
- Keep out of reach of children.
