CANOCAPAVIR
Generic Name: CANOCAPAVIR
ABSTRACT -
Canocapavir is an investigational HIV-1 capsid inhibitor designed as a long-acting antiretroviral agent for the treatment and prevention of HIV infection. It shares the mechanism of action with lenacapavir, disrupting capsid-mediated processes including nuclear import of the viral pre-integration complex and capsid core stability. Long-acting formulations under development aim to support monthly or less frequent dosing.
DOSAGE -
Long-acting injectable or oral formulation under investigation; specific dosing regimens defined in Phase I/II protocols.
SIDE EFFECTS-

ALLERGIC REACTIONS -
These symptoms may indicate an allergic reaction and require immediate medical attention.
- Skin rash

DRUG INTERACTIONS-
- Potential interactions with CYP3A4 and P-glycoprotein substrates
- Drug interactions with other antiretrovirals to be characterised
- Avoid co-administration with drugs that significantly alter CYP3A4 activity
PREAUTONS–
- HIV resistance testing recommended before initiation
