CAFELKIBART
Generic Name: CAFELKIBART
ABSTRACT -
Cafelkibart is an investigational monoclonal antibody targeting an inflammatory cytokine pathway, being evaluated for immune-mediated or inflammatory conditions such as inflammatory arthritis, or a cytokine-driven oncology indication. Its mechanism involves neutralising a pathogenic cytokine or blocking its receptor, thereby reducing inflammation and tissue damage. Phase I/II trials are characterising its safety and dose-response profile.
DOSAGE -
Subcutaneous or intravenous administration; dosing interval (Q2W/Q4W/Q8W) under determination in Phase I/II studies.
SIDE EFFECTS -
- Nausea
- Diarrhoea
- Headache
- Dizziness
- QTc prolongation
ALLERGIC REACTIONS -
These symptoms may indicate an allergic reaction and require immediate medical attention.
- Hypersensitivity reactions
- Urticaria
- Angioedema
- Anaphylaxis (rare)
DRUG INTERACTIONS-
- Normalisation of cytokine levels may alter CYP450 enzyme activity — monitor dose of concomitant drugs with narrow therapeutic index (warfarin, cyclosporine)
- Live vaccines contraindicated during treatment
- Additive immunosuppression with DMARDs
PREAUTONS–
- Screen for latent tuberculosis and hepatitis B before initiation
- Monitor neutrophil count and liver function
- Effective contraception required
- Avoid in active serious infections
WARNINGS –
- Serious and opportunistic infections reported with cytokine inhibitors
- Gastrointestinal perforation risk reported with IL-6 class
- Hyperlipidaemia may develop — lipid monitoring required
