EDRONOCAINE
Generic Name: EDRONOCAINE
ABSTRACT -
Edronocaine is a local-anesthetic API. Local anesthetics reversibly block voltage-gated sodium channels to reduce nerve conduction.
DOSAGE -
Dose, concentration, and maximum cumulative exposure are route- and formulation-specific. Use only with local-anesthetic dosing guidance and resuscitation capability when needed.
SIDE EEFECTS -
- Local numbness or irritation
- Dizziness or tinnitus
- Metallic taste
- Hypotension or bradycardia
- CNS excitation or depression at toxic levels
ALLERGIC REACTIONS -
These symptoms may indicate an allergic reaction and require medical attention.
- True allergy is uncommon but may include rash, urticaria, bronchospasm, angioedema, or anaphylaxis
- Preservative sensitivity may occur
DRUG INTEACTIONS-
- Other local anesthetics increase systemic toxicity risk
- Antiarrhythmics and sodium-channel blockers may have additive effects
- Vasoconstrictor combinations require cardiovascular caution
PREAUTONS–
- Calculate maximum dose carefully and aspirate where appropriate
- Monitor for local-anesthetic systemic toxicity
- Use caution in hepatic disease, cardiac disease, and extremes of age
WARNINGS –
Seizures, arrhythmias, cardiac arrest, and methemoglobinemia-like events can occur with local-anesthetic toxicity
