ATILMOTIN
Generic Name: ATILMOTIN
ABSTRACT -
Atilmotin (OHM-11638) is a synthetic peptide analogue of the amino-terminal motilin sequence and acts as a motilin receptor agonist. It has been studied for effects on gastric emptying and upper gastrointestinal motility. As a peptide analogue, it is better represented by a peptide-chain schematic rather than a conventional small-molecule ring-and-bond structure.
This document is for structured API information only. It is not a prescribing guide. Clinical use, if any, must follow the approved local label, trial protocol, and specialist medical supervision.
DOSAGE -
- Dosage should be determined only by a qualified healthcare professional.
- Clinical studies used protocol-defined parenteral dosing; no routine public dosing regimen is established.
- Route, dose, and monitoring should follow the study protocol or future approved label.
- Do not self-administer or use for gastrointestinal symptoms without medical supervision.
SIDE EFFECTS–
Possible side effects and safety concerns include:
- Nausea, abdominal cramping, diarrhea, or gastrointestinal discomfort
- Chest discomfort or esophageal symptoms have been reported in motility studies at higher exposures
- Headache, dizziness, flushing, or fatigue
- Injection-site reactions may occur with parenteral administration
- Serious hypersensitivity reactions are possible with peptide products.
ALLERGIC REACTIONS -
Hypersensitivity to Atilmotin or related compounds/products may occur. Symptoms may include:
- Immediate urticaria or generalized rash
- Facial, lip, tongue, or throat swelling
- Wheezing or breathing difficulty
- Dizziness, collapse, or anaphylaxis
Important: Patients who develop an allergic reaction to Atilmotin should seek immediate medical attention and inform all future healthcare providers of the allergy.
DRUG INTERACTIONS-
Atilmotin may interact with certain medicines, protocols, vaccines, clinical conditions, or procedures. Caution is needed with:
- Other prokinetic medicines may increase gastrointestinal motility effects.
- Anticholinergic drugs, opioids, and medicines that slow gut motility may oppose effects.
- Medicines affecting cardiac rhythm require caution if symptoms occur.
- Concomitant investigational products should follow protocol guidance.
Patients should inform healthcare providers about all prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, herbal products, vaccines, and supplements they are using.
PREAUTIONS–
- Evaluate bowel obstruction, perforation risk, and severe gastrointestinal disease before use.
- Use caution in patients with significant cardiac history or unexplained chest pain.
- Monitor for excessive motility, cramping, or esophageal symptoms.
- Pregnancy and lactation safety are not established.
WARNINGS –
- Investigational motilin agonist: not for unsupervised treatment of digestive complaints.
- Seek urgent care for severe chest pain, persistent vomiting, or severe abdominal pain.
- Use only where clinical monitoring is available.
- Keep out of reach of children.
