CILMOSTIM
Generic Name: CILMOSTIM
ABSTRACT -
Cilmostim is a granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) analog that stimulates proliferation and differentiation of myeloid progenitor cells, promoting neutrophil and macrophage recovery. It has been investigated for neutropenia and bone marrow support.
DOSAGE -
Typically 5–10 mcg/kg/day SC or IV; duration dependent on degree of myelosuppression and clinical response.
SIDE EEFECTS -
- Bone pain
- Fever and chills
- Injection site reactions
- Fatigue
- Fluid retention
ALLERGIC REACTIONS -
(These symptoms may indicate an allergic reaction and require medical attention.)
- Rash or urticaria
- Hypersensitivity reactions
- Dyspnea
- Anaphylaxis (rare)
DRUG INTERACTIONS-
- Concurrent chemotherapy may diminish response
- Lithium may potentiate myeloproliferative effects
- Avoid use within 24 hours of cytotoxic chemotherapy
PREAUTONS–
- Monitor CBC frequently during therapy
- Use with caution in myeloid malignancies
- Renal and hepatic function monitoring recommended
- Not for use in neonates containing benzyl alcohol formulations
WARNINGS –
- Splenic rupture (rare) reported with colony-stimulating factors
- Acute respiratory distress syndrome possible
- Capillary leak syndrome reported
- Tumor growth potential in myeloid malignancies
