ANATUMOMAB MAFENATOX
Generic Name: ANATUMOMAB MAFENATOX
ABSTRACT -
Anatumomab mafenatox is an investigational tumor-targeted superantigen fusion protein. It consists of an antibody/Fab-derived tumor-recognition component directed to tumor-associated glycoprotein 72 (TAG-72) linked to a modified Staphylococcus aureus enterotoxin A component, aiming to redirect T-cell cytotoxicity toward antigen-expressing tumor cells.
DOSAGE -
- Dosage should be determined only by a qualified oncology specialist.
- No approved standard dosage is established because development was investigational and protocol-specific.
- Administration in studies was intravenous with close infusion monitoring.
- Premedication and emergency support are required when superantigen-based biologics are administered.
SIDE EFFECTS–
- Possible side effects include:
- Fever and chills
- Infusion-related reactions
- Nausea or vomiting
- Fatigue
- Hypotension
- Cytokine-release-like symptoms
- Liver enzyme elevations
- Myalgia or malaise
ALLRGIC REACTIONS–
- Possible allergic reaction symptoms include:
- Rash
- Urticaria
- Bronchospasm
- Facial swelling
- Anaphylaxis-like symptoms
- Important: Patients who develop an allergic reaction to Anatumomab Mafenatox should seek immediate medical attention and inform all future healthcare providers of the allergy.
DRUG INTERACTIONS–
- Immunosuppressants may reduce immune-mediated antitumor activity.
- Other anticancer therapies can increase overlapping toxicity.
- Live vaccines should generally be avoided during clinically significant immunosuppression.
- Infusion-reaction medicines may be required and should be planned in the protocol.
- Patients should inform healthcare providers about all prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, herbal products, vaccines, and supplements they are using.
PREAUTIONS–
- Use only under specialist oncology supervision or an approved research protocol.
- Monitor vital signs, liver tests, blood counts, and immune/cytokine-related symptoms.
- Use caution in uncontrolled infection, severe autoimmune disease, or severe organ dysfunction.
- Verify current development status and trial authorization before any use.
WARNINGS –
- Not approved for routine general clinical use.
- Potential for serious infusion, cytokine-mediated, or hypersensitivity reactions.
- Emergency resuscitation support must be available during administration.
- Keep out of reach of children.
