ALIRINETIDE

Generic Name: ALIRINETIDE

ABSTRACT -

Alirinetide, also known as GM604 or GM6, is an investigational synthetic peptide consisting of the amino-acid sequence phenylalanine-serine-arginine-tyrosine-alanine-arginine. It has been studied as a neuroprotective or neurotrophic-modulating candidate in neurologic disorders such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. It is not an approved routine therapy and should be used only under clinical-trial or specialist medical supervision.

DOSAGE -

  • Alirinetide is investigational and does not have a universally established approved dosage regimen.
  • Clinical studies have used protocol-defined parenteral administration schedules rather than routine outpatient dosing.
  • Dose, route, infusion or injection procedure, treatment duration, laboratory monitoring, and neurologic assessments must follow the study protocol.
  • It should not be used for self-medication or substituted for approved neurologic therapies.

SIDE EFFECTS–

  • Reported or potential side effects may include:
  • Injection-site reaction
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Fatigue

  • Immunomodulating or biologic therapies
  • Anticoagulants or antiplatelet medicines if injections or infusions are used
  • Medicines that may worsen dizziness or sedation
  • Supplements or alternative therapies used for neurologic disease
  • Any therapy restricted by the clinical study protocol
  • Patients should inform healthcare providers about all prescription medicines, non-prescription medicines, herbal products, and supplements being used.

PREAUTIONS–

  • Use only in a clinical-trial or specialist neurologic setting with appropriate monitoring.
  • Document baseline neurologic status, respiratory status when relevant, swallowing status, and concomitant medicines.
  • Monitor for infusion or injection reactions, hypersensitivity, neurologic worsening, and laboratory abnormalities.
  • Use caution in patients with severe infection, unstable cardiopulmonary disease, bleeding risk, or multiple serious comorbidities.
  • Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and pediatric safety have not been established.

WARNINGS –

  • Alirinetide is investigational; safety, efficacy, optimal dose, and routine clinical role have not been fully established.
  • Neurologic diseases such as ALS require specialist management with approved supportive and disease-directed care where appropriate.
  • Severe allergic reaction, breathing difficulty, fainting, rapidly worsening weakness, or serious infusion reaction requires urgent care.
  • Treatment should be stopped and evaluated if severe adverse reaction or clinical deterioration is suspected.
