AMIMESTROCEL
Generic Name: AMIMESTROCEL
ABSTRACT -
Amimestrocel is a human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stromal/stem cell therapy. It has been conditionally approved in China for steroid-refractory acute graft-versus-host disease with predominant gastrointestinal involvement in patients 14 years and older. As a living cell product, its activity is related to immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, and tissue-repair signaling rather than a small-molecule receptor interaction.
DOSAGE -
Dosage should be determined only by specialists experienced with cellular therapies.
Use must follow the approved product information, hospital protocol, cold-chain handling, and infusion requirements.
No universal small-molecule-style dose conversion should be attempted.
Premedication, infusion monitoring, and post-infusion follow-up should follow the cell-therapy protocol.
SIDE EFFECTS–
Possible side effects may include:
- Infusion reactions, fever, chills, or malaise
- Allergic or hypersensitivity reactions
- Infection risk in severely immunocompromised patients
- Thromboembolic or microvascular concerns requiring protocol monitoring
- Uncertain long-term risks typical of newer cell therapies
ALLRGIC REACTIONS–
Hypersensitivity to the cell product, formulation components, or residual processing materials may occur. Symptoms may include:
- Fever, chills, or rigors during infusion
- Rash or urticaria
- Hypotension or tachycardia
- Dyspnea or wheezing
- Anaphylaxis or severe infusion reaction
Important: Patients who develop an allergic reaction to Amimestrocel should seek immediate medical attention and inform all future healthcare providers of the allergy.
DRUG INTERACTIONS–
Amimestrocel may interact with certain medicines or substances. Caution is needed with:
- Immunosuppressants may alter response and infection risk.
- Live vaccines are generally avoided in severely immunocompromised settings.
- Anticoagulants and infusion-related medicines require coordinated monitoring.
- Other cellular, biologic, or investigational therapies may complicate safety attribution.
Patients should inform healthcare providers about all prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, herbal products, and supplements they are using.
PREAUTIONS–
- Confirm product identity, viability, storage, and chain of custody before administration.
- Use only in qualified medical centers with resuscitation capability.
- Monitor for infection, infusion reaction, GVHD response, and organ dysfunction.
- Pregnancy and lactation considerations require specialist assessment.
WARNINGS –
- Cell therapies require strict manufacturing, handling, and clinical governance.
- Do not use if product integrity, storage temperature, or identity is uncertain.
- Serious infusion or hypersensitivity reactions require immediate treatment.
- Keep all clinical documentation for traceability.
