ACEBILUSTAT
Generic Name: ACEBILUSTAT
ABSTRACT -
Acebilustat, formerly CTX-4430, is an investigational orally active small-molecule inhibitor of leukotriene A4 hydrolase (LTA4H). By reducing production of leukotriene B4 (LTB4), a potent inflammatory mediator, acebilustat is being studied for conditions involving excessive inflammation, including lymphedema and cystic fibrosis-related inflammatory pathways. It remains an investigational drug and is not established for routine general medical use.
DOSAGE -
Acebilustat should only be used under approved clinical trial protocols or specialist research supervision.
- Studied as an oral medication in clinical research settings.
- Dose, frequency, and treatment duration vary by protocol and indication.
- Once-daily oral dosing has been explored in some research programs, but no routine clinical dosage has been established.
- Dose interruption or discontinuation may be required for clinically significant adverse events or laboratory abnormalities.
- Participants should follow protocol-specific dosing, fasting/meal instructions, laboratory monitoring, and follow-up.
SIDE EFFECTS –
Reported or potential side effects may include:
- Headache
- Upper respiratory symptoms or cold-like symptoms
- Cough
- Fatigue
- Nausea or abdominal discomfort
- Diarrhea
- Rash or itching
- Abnormal liver function tests
- Fever or malaise
- Potential infection-related symptoms
- Unknown risks because clinical experience is limited
ALLRGIC REACTIONS–
(These symptoms may indicate an allergic reaction to the medicine.)
- Skin rash
- Itching
- Hives
- Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
- Difficulty breathing or wheezing
- Chest tightness
- Severe dizziness or fainting
- Rapid heartbeat
- Anaphylaxis or severe hypersensitivity reaction
DRUG INTERACTIONS–
Formal interaction data are limited because acebilustat remains investigational. Caution should be exercised when used with:
- Other anti-inflammatory or immunomodulating medicines
- Medicines associated with liver toxicity
- Strong enzyme inhibitors or inducers if restricted by protocol
- Other investigational products
- Herbal products or supplements with anti-inflammatory or liver effects
- Medicines requiring careful monitoring in patients with chronic lung disease, infection, or inflammatory disease
Patients should inform healthcare providers about all prescription medicines, non-prescription medicines, vitamins, herbal products, vaccines, and supplements being used.
PRECAUTIONS –
- Use only under approved research or regulatory-authorized conditions.
- Screen for history of severe allergy, prior serious reaction to mRNA/lipid nanoparticle products, and active acute illness.
- Monitor for immediate hypersensitivity reactions after administration.
- Use caution in patients with active infection, unstable inflammatory disease, significant immune suppression, or bleeding disorders.
- Safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been established.
- Participants should report all adverse events and follow study monitoring requirements.
WARNINGS –
- Acebilustat is investigational and has not been established for routine general medical use.
- Clinically significant liver enzyme changes, infection-related events, or hypersensitivity reactions require medical evaluation.
- The benefits and risks are still being determined in clinical studies.
- Clinical use should be supervised by trained healthcare professionals.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- In case of severe adverse reaction or suspected overdose, seek immediate medical attention.
- Patients should report unusual symptoms or side effects to their healthcare provider or clinical investigator promptly.
