BRODALUMAB
Generic Name: BRODALUMAB
ABSTRACT -
Brodalumab is used clinically for moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis in selected adult patients. It blocks IL-17 receptor A and thereby inhibits signaling from several IL-17 cytokines involved in inflammatory skin disease.
DOSAGE -
Brodalumab must be used only as prescribed for an approved indication and according to the official product information.
- Administration is by subcutaneous injection under a clinician-directed dosing schedule.
- Patients should be monitored for infection, mood changes, and response to therapy.
- Do not change dose or stop therapy without medical advice.
SIDE EFFECTS-
Common or possible side effects may include:
- Injection-site or infusion reaction
- Fever or chills
- Headache
- Fatigue
- Nausea
- Skin rash or itching
- Hypersensitivity reactions
- Laboratory abnormalities depending on target and indication
Serious adverse effects depend on dose, route, indication, comorbidities, and concomitant medicines.
ALLERGIC REACTIONS -

Symptoms may include:
- Fever

- Itching
- Hives
- Swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat
- Wheezing or shortness of breath
- Severe dizziness
- Low blood pressure
- Anaphylaxis in severe cases
Important: Stop treatment and seek urgent medical help if a serious allergic reaction is suspected.
DRUG INTERACTIONS-
Brodalumab may interact with certain medicines or substances. Caution is needed with:
- Other immunomodulatory medicines
- Live vaccines where immune function may be affected
- Myelosuppressive anticancer therapies
- Corticosteroids or immunosuppressants when clinically relevant
Patients should inform healthcare providers about all prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, herbal products, and supplements they are using.
PREAUTONS–
- Screen for active infection before use.
- Assess history of depression or suicidal ideation.
- Use caution in patients with inflammatory bowel disease.
- Monitor for new or worsening mood symptoms and infections.
WARNINGS –
- Suicidal ideation and behavior have been reported; mood symptoms require urgent assessment.
- Serious infections may occur.
- Do not use in patients with active clinically important infection unless directed by a specialist.
- Take only under medical supervision.
