AXALIMOGENE FILOLISBAC
Generic Name: AXALIMOGENE FILOLISBAC
ABSTRACT -
Axalimogene filolisbac is a live-attenuated Listeria monocytogenes-based cancer immunotherapy engineered to express human papillomavirus type 16 E7 antigen fused to a non-hemolytic listeriolysin O protein. As a live biologic vaccine product, it does not have a small-molecule molecular formula. The representation above shows a biologic bacterial-vaccine schematic.
This document is for structured API information only. It is not a prescribing guide. Clinical use, if any, must follow the approved local label, trial protocol, and specialist medical supervision.
DOSAGE-
- Dosage should be determined only by a qualified oncology professional or trial protocol.
- Use only in protocol-defined cancer immunotherapy settings with appropriate biosafety controls.
- Route, dose level, interval, premedication, and monitoring depend on the clinical study or local authorization.
- Do not administer outside supervised medical settings.
SIDE EFFECTS-
Possible side effects and safety concerns include:
- Fever, chills, rigors, fatigue, malaise, flu-like symptoms, or headache
- Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, or reduced appetite
- Hypotension, tachycardia, infusion-related symptoms, or inflammatory reactions
- Listeria-related infection or sepsis is a serious potential risk with live bacterial products
- Immune-mediated symptoms may overlap with cancer or prior therapies
ALLERGIC REACTIONS -
Hypersensitivity to Axalimogene filolisbac or related compounds/products may occur. Symptoms may include:
- Immediate urticaria, itching, flushing, or generalized rash
- Facial, lip, tongue, or throat swelling
- Wheezing, chest tightness, or breathing difficulty
- Dizziness, fainting, severe hypotension, or collapse
- Anaphylaxis, although uncommon, requires emergency medical treatment
Important: Patients who develop an allergic reaction to Axalimogene filolisbac should seek immediate medical attention and inform all future healthcare providers of the allergy.
DRUG INTERACTIONS-
Axalimogene filolisbac may interact with certain medicines, biologics, vaccines, protocols, or clinical conditions. Caution is needed with:
- Systemic antibiotics may reduce the viability and immune activity of live bacterial immunotherapy.
- Immunosuppressants or corticosteroids may reduce immune response and increase infection risk.
- Other live vaccines or biologic immune therapies require careful scheduling.
- Patients should report all medicines, recent vaccines, supplements, and herbal products.
Patients should inform healthcare providers about all prescription medicines, over-the-counter medicines, herbal products, vaccines, and supplements they are using.
PREAUTIONS–
- Screen for immune compromise, pregnancy, active infection, indwelling devices, and antibiotic requirements.
- Monitor temperature, blood pressure, infection symptoms, and immune-related events after administration.
- Use biosafety precautions for live-attenuated bacterial products according to protocol.
- Pregnancy and lactation require strict specialist review because of live biologic risk.
WARNINGS –
- Live-attenuated Listeria products may cause serious or disseminated infection.
- Avoid use in severely immunocompromised patients unless specifically justified by protocol.
- Promptly evaluate persistent fever, hypotension, sepsis symptoms, or neurologic symptoms.
- Keep out of reach of children.
