BELSOMRA

Generic Name : SUVOREXANT

ABSTRACT -

Belsomra is a drug that is used to treat sleeping disorders like insomnia. This drug is used to stabilize the patient’s sleep and wake cycle. This drug is consumed minimally, yet produces effective results over time.

DOSAGE –

  • Belsomra is to be taken as directed by the doctors.
  • The lowest dosage required is generally recommended.
  • Each dose is to be taken once a night, 30 minutes before sleeping and 7 hours time before the planned wake-up time.
  • General dosing –
  • Tablet – 10mg (once a night)
  • The intensity and strength of dosage may go up to 20mg, consult your doctor regarding dosage, and follow the prescription religiously.

PRECAUTIONS -

  • Provide your doctor with a detailed and accurate medical history before drug prescription. Notify your doctor especially in case of allergies to suvorexant or narcolepsy.
  • Avoid consuming Belsomra directly after a meal, as it may lessen the effectiveness of the drug.
  • Risks are to be calculated before drug prescription in case of depression, COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) or sleep apnea. Mention these conditions to your doctor in case you have any of these illnesses.
  • Do not share this prescription drug with another patient, no matter how similar conditions and symptoms may seem to be.
  • Never consume Belsomra during daytime as it causes sleep and drowsiness.
  • Avoid engaging in complicated activities while on drug course – driving, eating or other tasks that demand complete concentration.
  • Avoid consuming alcohol while on drug course.

WARNINGS –

  • Keep out of reach of children. This drug is not recommended for patients below the age of 18.
  • There is a chance of drug dependency or drug abuse with the prolonged usage of Belsomra. Consult your doctor in case of addiction.s
  • In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately.
