Generic Name : RIVASTIGMINE (ORAL)
ABSTRACT -
Exelon works as a cholinesterase inhibitor. This drug is used to treat variations of dementia caused by Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s disease. Exelon works by preventing the breakdown of chemicals that are important for retaining memories, thinking capacities and logical reasoning. This drug improves the function of the nerve cells within the brain.
DOSAGE –

- Exelon is to be taken as directed by the doctors. Consume this drug only as prescribed to avoid overdose or other harmful effects. Dosages of this drug are generally based on weight.
- This drug is generally taken twice a day with food.

PRECAUTIONS –
- Provide the doctor with a detailed and accurate medical history prior to drug prescription. Notify especially in case of illnesses or conditions such as ulcers in the stomach, seizures, heart problems, liver/kidney disease, urination difficulties or asthmatic conditions
- Do not use this drug in case of an allergy to Exelon itself.
- Inform the doctor of all the drugs being consumed so as to avoid severe drug interactions.
- Notify a surgeon of drug intake in case of upcoming surgery.
- Avoid alcohol, other NSAIDs, coffee or cola while on drug course.
WARNINGS –
- Keep out of reach of children.
- This drug must not be taken orally if the Exelon transdermal skin patch caused any variation of itching.
- Avoid engaging in complicated activities that may lead to injuries while on drug course.
- Contact a doctor in case of symptoms such as severe vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, or bloody stool.
- In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately. Overdose of this drug can cause severe nausea, weak breathing, seizures or fainting.
