FLONASE

Generic Name : FLUTICASONE NASAL SPRAY

ABSTRACT -

Flonase Nasal Spray is a corticosteroid that is used to treat symptoms of cold and allergies, such as sneezing, runny noses or itchy / watery eyes. Composed of fluticasone propionate, Flonase works to reduce the effects of allergies by lowering the frequency of substance releases that are considered responsible for inflammations in the body.

DOSAGE –

    • Flonase is to be taken as directed by the doctors. Consume this drug only as prescribed to avoid overdose or other harmful effects. Dosage is subject to variation.
    • Shake the nasal spray before each use.
    • Dispose of the spray bottle after 120 sprays.
    • General Adult Dosage available:
Oral – 50mcg / spray (1 or 2 sprays in each nostril, per day)

SIDE EFFECTS –

  • Nosebleed
  • Sores / patches within the nose
  • Cough
  • Headache
  • Back pain
  • Sore throat
  • Fever
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting

RARE SIDE EFFECTS –

  • Severe nosebleeds
  • Difficulty in breathing
  • Severe fever
  • Blurry vision
  • Wounds that fail to heal
  • Hormonal disorder

Flonase has major interactions with 23 different drugs.

MODERATE DRUG INTERACTIONS –

  • Aprepitant
  • BCG
  • Ciprofloxacin
  • Darunavir

  • Ribociclib
  • Isavuconazonium
Flonase has moderate interactions with 16 different drugs.

PRECAUTIONS –

  • Provide the doctor with a detailed and accurate medical history prior to drug prescription. Notify especially in case of illnesses and conditions such as sores or ulcers within the nose, previous surgeries on the nose, glaucoma, cataracts, liver disease, diabetes or any kind of infection.
  • Do not use this drug in case of an allergy to Flonase itself.
  • Inform the doctor of all the drugs being consumed so as to avoid severe drug interactions. Notify especially in case of antifungal / antiviral medications.
  • Avoid sharing this drug with another individual.
  • Do not stop using steroidal medications suddenly before switching to Flonase. Consult a doctor as to how to lower the dosage of the medication to avoid sudden dangerous symptoms.
  • Avoid letting the spray get into the eyes or the mouth.

WARNINGS –

  • Keep out of reach of children. This drug is not recommended for children under the age of 4.
  • Long-term usage of this drug can lead to cataracts, glaucoma, menstrual problems or even impotence.
  • This drug can weaken the immune system and lower the amount of fighter blood cells within the body. Keep the patient in sanitary conditions, away from infections.
  • In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately.
