Cervical cancer affects the cervical cells which are at the lower most portion of the uterus. It is the fourth most common cancer in women and 570000 new cases have been registered in 2018. PAP test can be done for early detection. The symptoms are not very specific but generally pain in pelvis, irregular or heavy menstruation, vaginal bleeding and discharge accompanied with fatigue, weight loss & nausea. The general treatment includes teletherapy, chemotherapy, cervicectomy, surgery. It is mainly caused by HPV infection and transmitted sexually. Excessive use of birth control pills and smoking increases risk factor.
