SYSTEMIC LUPUS ERYTHEMATOSUS
ABSTRACT -
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a type of autoimmune disease where immune system starts to fight against own healthy cells and tissues rather than protecting them from harmful bacterial infections. It is a chronic disease with the symptoms ranging from mild to severe which can get worse if left untreated.
CAUSES -
- Genetics
- Unprotected sex
- Hormonal imbalance
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS –
- Fatigue
- Muscle pain
- Butterfly rashes on the cheeks and nose
- Swelling in the joints
- Hair loss
- Blood clotting issues
COMPLICATIONS –
- Inflammation in blood vessels
- Heart diseases like stroke, heart attack

- Estimation shows that the prevalence rate of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus is 1, 61,000 people worldwide.
- The annual prevalence report shows that the cases of females were found higher compared to males.
