Common drug for Multiple Sclerosis can lead to longer life

The beta interferon drugs prescribed to patients suffering from Multiple Sclerosis are found to prolong life. These includes Avonex, Betaseron, Extavia, Plegridy and Rebif which also are the first disease modifying drugs known to treat Multiple Sclerosis. When Multiple Sclerosis is treated with these beta Interferon drugs, it modulates the immune system of the patient and brings it back in equilibrium. This new finding is the result of a study conducted in the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. Albeit this showed that these drugs probe to be conducive in increasing lifespan, it is expected that with further research, new breakthrough also might get produced.
